Do You Actually Make Wood Business Cards In-House? Having our own CNC machines and laser equipment allows us to create exceptional wood products. While business cards are a speciality, our capabilities extend to a wide range of custom wood items. If you choose, you can even order 25 of our basswood engraved business cards on an Extreme Rush—ready as soon as the next business day. What make wood business cards so unique? Wood business cards make a powerful first impression by blending natural materials with refined craftsmanship. Their distinctive look, tactile feel, and subtle wood scent immediately set them apart from traditional paper cards—signalling quality, creativity, and professionalism at first touch. What’s the difference between the processes? 1. VAPOUR This process is highly distinctive and is used only on a select range of wood types. The ink is applied using a specialized transfer method that embeds it directly into the wood, resulting in an exceptionally natural appearance. Because the ink is transferred in vapor form, the text and imagery appear softer rather than sharply defined, creating a subtle, slightly faded aesthetic. While this means the print is not as crisp as traditional methods, it delivers a more organic and authentic look. An added advantage of this process is the ability to print in full color, combined with a rapid production turnaround—often as fast as 24 hours under expedited conditions. 1. ENGRAVING Since there is no printing and not inks, it is truly brilliant way of having your wood cards. Best of all engraving leaves a little burnt natural look that give it the elevated feel. 2. PRINTING We use a specialized printing process designed to deliver crisp, high-clarity results, making it ideal for designs that require a full-color appearance. To maintain the natural character of the wood, we recommend limiting color coverage to approximately 40% rather than full saturation. Please note that certain wood stocks feature pronounced surface texture. Because this printing method is applied flat to the surface, it does not penetrate deep grooves in the same way as our vapor-based process. As a result, on highly textured woods the print may appear discontinuous or broken in some areas. We recommend consulting with our team when selecting wood types to ensure optimal results for your design. 1. DIE CUTTING This feature is available on all our cards with the exception of NFC cards. Can I have printing, engraving and die cutting altogether? Absolutely. It may be a bit extra, but yes, we can. Will all the wood cards I get look exactly the same? It would certainly be ideal if nature produced every piece exactly the same. However, wood is inherently variable, and as a result, no two pieces are ever identical. Variations in grain, tone, and texture mean that engraving and printing results may differ slightly from one card to another. These natural differences are not imperfections—they are what make each piece truly unique and, ultimately, invaluable. NFC Wood Cards? NFC bamboo wood cards can be produced in as little as 2 business days with extreme rush service. NFC chips are available blank or pre-programmed. On bamboo substrates, printing offers higher clarity and sharper detail, while engraving produces natural tonal variation due to the material’s grain. We recommend engraving, as it is the more sustainable option and delivers a premium finish that leverages bamboo’s natural characteristics to elevate brand perception. What file types do you need? 1. ENGRAVING ONLY or DIE CUTTING: In this process we need vector files only. This means no png, jpg, psd or tif. We do accept SVG and PDF. If you don’t have a vector, we do have an internal design team than can create those for you for a nominal price. 2. PRINTING: This one vector is preferred, but your logo’s or images can be in JPEG, TIF and your file submission is recommended as PDF. Not sure? Don’t worry, our team will assist you in creating these masterful wood creations possible. Quality and reliability? Because we handle the engineering, design, milling, and laser operations entirely in-house, our teams approach every project with exceptional care and passion—especially when working with wood products, which we value for their environmental importance. As each item moves through our internal production process, it is carefully inspected at every stage to ensure accuracy, quality, and minimal waste. From the moment we receive your order, our design team reviews your artwork for correctness and goes a step further by providing an online proof for your approval. If any issues arise during production that can be corrected, our teams collaborate closely to resolve them promptly. This meticulous, hands-on process allows us to create each product with the utmost care, resulting in a truly unique piece of craftsmanship rather than just a standard business card. Are we able to come-in and view the cards? Absolutely. Email us at sales@cdnprinting.com and set-up a viewing appointment. This way the person that works with WOOD Cards will help you navigate through your decision.
